How to Change Your Perspective on Major Projects + Decisions

What stops us from getting started? Is it the fear of imperfection? Or the feeling that the tasks ahead are way over our heads?

As we progress in our careers or life in general, we get pulled out of our comfort zones by being asked to do things we have never even thought of doing before. AHHH SCARY!

We have choices to make. When these situations present themselves to us we can either let doubt take over and paralyze us or we can rise to the occasion and see them as opportunities. I believe most of us would like to choose the latter. But how do we get there?

Here are 4 tips for shifting your perspective on major projects + decisions:

1. Realizing that whatever you’re being asked to do isn’t as big as you think it is

I’ve put off so many tasks because of the assumption that they would take too much much time and energy. The truth is putting the task off is always more draining than if we were to be proactive and just do the thing!

2. Focusing on your growth

3. Consider choosing a different path

Are you putting this thing off because it doesn’t feel right? Are you getting advice from others that doesn’t align? Play out different scenarios in your head. Which one feels the best? At the end of the day you need to pick the choice that feels right for you even if it’s not what others are encouraging you to do.

4. Taking it one step at a time

Often times these big projects and decisions take time. Go with the flow and remember not everything needs an answer right at this moment. Let it unfold. Gather more information. Be gentle with yourself.

Do you have any helpful techniques for approaching big projects and life decisions? I would love to hear them!

Thanks for reading 🙂
